Company mission
HATCH creates a true circular ecosystem: we take food waste and use it to produce feed and fertiliser to grow more food. Using insects, HATCH turns food waste into sustainable and valuable feed and fertiliser products. We aim to divert >100,000 tonnes of food waste from Australian landfills each year. Our insects, Black Soldier Fly (BSF) larvae, act as a carbon sink, emitting >95% less CO2 equivalent emissions than landfilled food waste. BSF feed and fertiliser produced from our process create sustainable alternatives to unsustainably produced feeds such as fishmeal and soya bean meal, and synthetic fertilisers which deplete soils of their vital microbial nutrients.
