Impact Director

at Wollemi Capital™

Sydney (NSW) or Seattle (USA) preferred; San Francisco (USA) also a possibility.

Fewer than 100 adult Wollemi pines exist in the world, in a protected grove in Australia’s Blue Mountains. Unchanged for over 200 million years, their survival is a story of fragility and resilience: enduring, but almost lost. During the most destructive bushfires in Australian history, human intervention prevented catastrophe.

What the next 200 million years looks like for the Wollemi pine rests with us. We alone will evolve their story from persistence to nurture, from nurture to growth.

Wollemi Capital™ believes that the custodianship of the environment is key to a thriving future – one in which astute deployment of capital will drive even greater outcomes for our planet, people, and investors.

Wollemi Capital is a global climate specialist investment firm. We are:

  • Climate specialists: We only invest in businesses and projects that aim to advance global decarbonisation.
  • Focused on systemic change across 6 target thematics: Carbon Removal & Avoidance, Food & Agriculture, Clean Energy & Transport, Circular Economy, Built Environment & Industry, and Climate Services
  • Aiming for impact on a planetary scale: Creating a climate specialist investment firm of institutional quality, global scale, and generational impact, driving outsized returns for both our investors and our planet and people.

We are looking for a strategic, experienced leader to develop and lead Wollemi Capital’s Impact practice, integrating impact into every stage of our investment process to ensure that climate, nature, and people benefit from each Wollemi investment in a measurable and equitable way.

Reporting to Managing Director and Co-Founder Paul Hunyor, the Impact Director will lead the creation, implementation and delivery of a strategy and framework for impact measurement, management and reporting. You will advise Wollemi Capital’s Investment Committee and work alongside its Strategic Impact Advisor and investment team.

Embedding impact in commercial due diligence and investment decision making will require stamina, commitment to detail and a ‘no job is too small’ attitude. Along with the entire Wollemi Capital team, you will possess a knowledge of and deep passion for climate and sustainability, working across thematics ranging from nature-based solutions to cutting edge battery and EV charging technology.

As Wollemi Capital’s new Impact Director you will need to hit the ground running, working closely with the investment team to advise on live investment discussions in parallel to designing and implementing Wollemi Capital’s longer-term approach to impact.

To apply, please submit a CV and covering letter, detailing how you fulfil the role description and person specification.

The deadline for applications is Friday, May 10, 2024.

The preference is for this role to be based in Wollemi Capital’s offices in Seattle (US) or Sydney (AUS), though we are open to considering candidates in San Francisco (US). The salary range for this role will be between $200,000 - $275,000 USD, dependant on location and experience.

We value diversity in all of its forms and strongly encourage applications from candidates who identify as having a diverse background.
