Unlocking the Supply of Durable Carbon Removals

Gentoo.earth is a sales enablement platform for carbon removal. We exist to accelerate the transition to a trusted & transparent carbon market that can be relied on to achieve net zero.

Currently there is no easy way for durable carbon removal (CDR) suppliers to prospect & engage companies with ambitious net zero targets. CDR suppliers need to engage buyers in multi-year offtake agreements in order to secure financing to scale their project operations. Gentoo.earth accelerates this process by helping suppliers qualify & engage corporate partners. Our mission is to unlock the supply of durable carbon removals.

The Role

Gentoo.earth is searching for a Full Stack/Founding Engineer to lead product development & migration from our existing tech stack.

  • Full stack - play an integral part in determining the tech we use and the engineering culture we build. You will work closely with our founder & personally own, plan and implement entire projects
  • A keen interest in data science - data is at the core of what we do. You will play a pivotal role in automating data collection via APIs & leading data analysis
  • Builder first - build and iterate on the fly, with a focus on quickly shipping
  • Flexible & a keen learner - at first, you will roll up your sleeves & get creative within our existing no-code tech stack before initiating our migration as we grow the team
  • Future team lead - you’ll play a key role in creating & building our growing engineering team over the next 12-18 months
  • Customer & business exposure - collaborate across many decisions and have a key impact on Gentoo’s development
  • Remote/Hybrid (US/AU) - we are currently expanding our operations in the US & have a preference for candidates open to hybrid work in either SF/NYC (USA) or Sydney (Australia). We are also open to remote roles for the right candidate.

About you

  • Experience in building Javascript-based web applications (React, Typescript, Node, etc.). We’re currently working in a no-code tech stack (softr.io, airtable, zapier etc)
  • UI/UX skills
  • Experience in relational databases & API integrations
  • Personal projects or early start up experiences are a must
  • Preferably 3-5yrs software engineering experience
  • Passionately curious - you’re a self learner, motivated to join an early team, understand the problems we’re solving and implement solutions across the full UI lifecycle (planning, mock ups, creation, testing)
  • Fast paced and scrappy - you’re excited by a fast paced, unstructured environment with the chance to have a huge climate impact!

Benefits:

  • Competitive Salary + Equity Package ($110k to $170k depending on qualifications, location & equity stake)
  • Flexible work culture (remote / hybrid)
  • High level of ownership and autonomy
  • Opportunity to build and lead your own team as we expand to the US
  • Unlimited PTO with a minimum of 2 weeks off per year + all federal/public holidays
  • Make a massive impact as we build the next generation of the carbon market

Our Process

  • Initial call with our Founder to get to know you & share more about the role
  • Technical interview
  • Final chat to discuss your goals & whether Gentoo is the best fit for you

How to Apply

Email us at careers@gentoo.earth with an intro! Let us know what you’ve worked on in the past, give us a full rundown on your favourite project (Github profile, other relevant links, what went wrong/right), and why you’re excited about Gentoo.earth. You don’t need to fit all the boxes - if this sounds like an exciting opportunity & mission you’d like to be a part of, we’d still like to hear from you!

PS. please don’t submit a CV, we won’t read it. We’d prefer to check out your LinkedIn profile & hear about/take a look at your previous work projects.
